A BIG THANK YOU TO THE LINES AND PUBLIC WORKS CREWS!

It's been a particularly rough week for many people in central Connecticut and throughout much of the state.  As I write this many, many people are experiencing their 6th day without power.  I was fortunate in my home to only be out 2 days and the same here at work. People are beyond frustrated and their patience is being tested, for some to the limit.

America is still the most productive nation on earth. We work hard, and that includes the men and women of CL&P working to restore power to our homes and businesses. They are doing everything humanly possible to get our lights and heat back on. The same is true for the public works crews throughout the region. I know some of them personally.  Many of them still don’t have power in their own homes and are having to leave their families to help the rest of us. They’re working almost around the clock and to the legal limits of their own personal safety.

Let’s take a moment to make sure we give credit where credit is due. In addition to being the most productive nation on earth, we are also the most generous. CL&P, the company and its employees, exemplifies that generosity through their contributions of volunteer time and money. They support a multitude of worthwhile and critical causes across the state every year.

There will be plenty of time to assess what happened, why and who, if anyone, was responsible.  But for now let’s lift up and encourage those who are sacrificing and helping the most.

For those still in need of assistance with shelter, food, etc. please call 211.
