Where to Turn in Connecticut When You Become Unemployed

United Way 2-1-1's Where to Turn in Connecticut When You Become Unemployed is intended to provide information on state, federal, and local resources to help people who are unemployed and looking for jobs. We hope that the information in this guide will help you manage financially while unemployed, and help you become re-employed.

As Connecticut's unemployment rate continues to rise, United Way 2-1-1 is seeing an increase in the number of calls from residents needing referrals for job finding assistance. In 2008, 2-1-1 made more than 9,000 referrals related to employment services, an increase of 9% over the previous year. Residents from Middlesex County made nearly 270 requests.

2-1-1 is Connecticut's free, confidential information, referral, and crisis intervention service that is available by phone 24/7 from anywhere in Connecticut. Just dial 2-1-1 and a trained specialist will answer your call any time of day or night. 2-1-1 is a program of the United Ways in Connecticut and the State of Connecticut.
