Middlesex United Way is a locally based organization dedicated to strengthening lives, helping people, and improving community conditions in the fifteen towns in Middlesex County. With our partners, we work to create real, lasting change. We support community programs and initiatives that help those in need and also prevent problems from happening in the first place.
United Way believes that everyone should have the opportunities for a good life, and that the building blocks for that life are education, income, health, and housing. Our goals and work in the community are centered around these key areas, our four pillars of advancement. You need a quality education that leads to a stable job, enough income to support a family now and into retirement, good health, and a safe, decent and affordable place to live.
LIVE UNITED is our call to action for the entire community. It's about working together to achieve more than any single person or organization could alone. And we are advancing the common good in Middlesex County by providing ways for people to give, advocate, and volunteer in support of our work.
Middlesex United Way also has a Volunteer Center, to support the volunteer needs of the community. The Volunteer Center organizes United Way Day of Caring activities and matches groups of volunteers with meaningful projects at nonprofit organizations. We also have an online database of one-time and ongoing volunteer opportunities at Volunteer Solutions.
In collaboration with the State of Connecticut, United Way supports 2-1-1, a 24-hour, 7-day a week toll-free number to dial for information and referral. If you or someone you know needs helps, the first number to dial is 2-1-1. Or visit them online at www.211ct.org.
We invite you to LIVE UNITED with us - to get involved by giving, advocating, and volunteering for the causes and issues that you care about and want to help improve. It takes all of us working together to create a brighter future.
LIVE UNITED is a credo, a goal, a way of life. It's the idea that we are all connected and interdependent...because when you reach out a hand to one you can influence the condition of all.
That's what it means to LIVE UNITED. |
