Residents in several Middlesex County towns served by Connecticut Water are currently under a mandatory Boil Water Order following the detection of E. coli bacteria in one routine water sample.
Affected Middlesex County communities include:
- Chester
- Clinton
- Deep River
- Essex
- Haddam
- Old Saybrook
- Westbrook
Until the advisory is lifted, residents should bring tap water to a rolling boil for one minute before using it for:
- Drinking
- Cooking or food preparation
- Making ice
- Brushing teeth
- Washing dishes
Tap water may continue to be used for bathing and laundry.
