#doublemygift for ALICE

1 in 4 households in Connecticut have earnings above the Federal Poverty Level but below a basic cost of living threshold. Despite working hard, these households struggle to afford the basics of housing, food, transportation, health care and child care. United Way calls these households ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed). In Connecticut, it takes at least $64,000 a year to support a family of four, more than double the U.S. poverty threshold of $24,000. United Ways are working to provide programs that support families at and below the ALICE cost of living threshold, and we are advocating for polices to help ALICE families get ahead.
